2004 SCORE SHOOTER OF THE YEAR

Wow! 2004 Score Shooter of the Year stats broke the bank--419 shooters tried Score Shooting at least once, 2711 Aggs  qualified for points, 122 matches held of which 112  qualified for the final stats of the year. Several matches did not contest all three classes, therefore, these are not listed in the 2004 stats. If you want your match to count for Score Shooter points, all you have to do is list in the IBS schedule that you will contest Hunter class, Varmint-Hunter class, and Varmint For Score class.  If no one comes to shoot a listed class, that is alright; the classes that are shot will then count for points.

The Mainville Club has taken a hard look at the rules set forth for Score Shooter and have made a couple changes.  One of the major changes is that Mainville will now award points to all IBS and NBRSA members. We figured that we have too many friends in NBRSA that shoot with us to exclude them from winning the year end trophies. The other change is that because Score Shooter has continued to grow every year, we will no longer award participation points; but, we will now award a point for every 250 shot.   We are also asking that the match report be forwarded to Bill Creasy, 584 E. Hillcrest Dr., Bloomsburg  PA  17815, within the same timeframe as sending the match report to Joan Borden—within 4 weeks of the match.  We are forwarding a copy of the rules to PS, if Dave (the editor) has space, maybe he will print them.  If not, please check the IBS website. We will also see that each member of the Score Committee has a copy.

Now, to the most important part of the stats.  Congratulations to Humble Henry Rivers for winning the VFS SCORE SHOOTER OF THE YEAR!  It is great to see someone like Henry set out at the beginning of the year to achieve a goal and do just that. But, we are not so sure that Smokin Joe did not just make him MAD last year, as Henry left no room for anyone to catch him.

In the Six power class congratulations go out to Al Kogoy, Sr. who also made sure that there was no chance for him to finish anywhere but in first place. Al had a very severe operation on his neck several years ago and it looked like his shooting days were over, as Al could no longer stand the recoil on a Hunter Rifle.  But never say never to Al. He got a hold of one of those DANG 30-BRs. Even though his son set a new Hunter record, 250-24, Al Sr. over came that adversity by setting several records of his own.

Thanks to all the ranges, range directors and especially all the competitors who helped make Score Shooting what it isŠ

NEW 2005 SCORE SHOOTER OF THE YEAR RULES

The IBS Score Committee is currently reviewing the Score Shooter of the year program and is going to incorporate a few changes including some new features. Full details will be released in the near future. With the large growth in Score shooting over the last few years it has been decided the program should be administered by the Committee.

The Executive Board and Members of IBS wish to thank Bill & Martha Creasy for the Hundreds of hours of time, and massive amounts of effort they have put into this program over the past 20 years. It is greatly appreciated.
